I would like to ask for you to pray for Justin. As some of you know, he has Crohns disease. His first doctor didn't do so well getting a handle on his complications and Justin asked to be referred to a doctor at Vanderbilt. He had his first visit and found out that the first doctor had his meds all wrong. To a point that he would never get better if he continued to stay on that route. The new doctor has adjusted all his meds and added a few new ones to help keep the chance of colon cancer low. He is now up to 17 pills a day. One major issue he had was that the first Dr. had him on too low of a dose of 6MP (a chemo pill) and had paired it with a very strong steroid. It should have taken 3 months for his body to acclimate. But since he didn't have enough of the drug in his body it wasn't doing anything and now he has three more months until his body accepts the correct dosage. Unfortunately, the steroid that the 6MP is paired with causes osteoporosis. He has to go for a bone density test this coming week. If the steroid is causing issues with his bones, he will have to be taken off of it. This steroid is what is keeping him strong enough to handle the chemo pill. If he has to come off the steroid, the next three months is going to be very rough on him. He has lost over 100 pounds in the last 18 months due in large part to this disease and was hospitalized once. I am afraid that he will again end up in the hospital if he is taken off the steroid. Please pray that his bone density is fine so that he may continue on this steroid. You can also pray that his Crohns goes away altogether. I'm sure he wouldn't mind that answered pray!

I think Justin reads this from time to time and may be a bit upset that I have shared so much. If so, I am sorry, but it never hurts to have the Big Guy on your side, Popi!

Shhhh....

FYI: Lil's birthday is tomorrow, August 13, 2008.

Don't hate me!

Connersville Asian

There is a new Chinese restaurant in town. It's next to WalMart. I HIGHLY recommend it. The food was awesome. The take out carton is reusable. The Crab Rangoon is amazing. It was reasonably priced. They will soon have Sushi. And the most important #1 reason to purchase from them....EXCELLENT customer service. They were so nice and able to answer my questions. And I didn't have to wait for them to quit talking on their cell phone to take my order. (Unlike the buffet in town - who has HORRIBLE service. They wait until they are done talking on their phone to take your order. They charge you for a drink, even if you have take out and don't offer take out cups. And they will reach over your plate while you are eating to get your empty plate. Their customer service is disgusting.) I have found my new Chinese take out home!! I hope everyone has a great visit there. We meet at least once a month during the summer. During Colts season, we meet every Sunday. We talk about love, life, kids, parents, siblings. We laugh about everything. We remind each other why we're friends. We remind each other not to do that silly thing we did last week ever again. We are shoulders to cry on. We are ears to complain to. We are all best friends. I am so blessed to have these very special girls in my life. We are all God loving women who have suffered loss in the love department. We call ourselves The First Wives Club. But we also love my little sister and had to let her in, even though she didn't fit the first rule of FWC. That's how much we love her. We made a new rule just to Emily could hang out with us. The new name became The First Wives Club Living Vicariously Through Emily. Or FWCLVTE for short! ha Now don't get me wrong. We talk on the phone or text daily and see each other many times through out the week. But when we get a call or a text that says FWC meeting. We jump. We rearrange schedules. We make plans for the kids to go to grandma's. (Or we put the kids in their pens, in my case!) We have all started dating in some form. All except Tracey. She won't for a while and we all respect that. That doesn't keep us from giving her eye candy too look at from time to time. So that brings me to me. I'm shopping. Not really actively. But I need a list so that I know what I'm looking for. That way when it comes along, I'll know it's there. I have two plans. Maybe one day I will share my plan A. Here is my plan B. My shopping list.

What I Want in a MAN
He will be a Jesus lover and should attend church or willing to go to church with me.
Is is a MAN. Not a boy wearing man pants.
He will love music/live music/concerts. (Playing or singing is a plus)
He will have a stable lifestyle and will be able to support himself.
He wants kids.
He will be professional minded and a hard worker. (That doesn't mean white collar, just takes work seriously.)
He should be tall.
He will enjoy the outdoors or be athletic.
He loves his family and is open to loving mine.
He loves family events.
He will be passionate about something.
He likes nice things. (He keeps his personal items nice.)
He will love animals.
He loves his friends and is open to my friends.

Now I know what you're thinking. I'm thinking it too....I'M GOING TO BE SINGLE FOREVER! ha

So there you go. I know there are a lot of little bitties who read my page. You have my shopping list. Go find him! =)

Cute little lizards

Hey guys! Just want to let everyone know that I have three lizards to get rid of. Chris is finally coming to get his HUGE aquarium and he doesn't want the lizards anymore. I hate to just let them go in the back yard. They are not native to Indiana and would probably freeze to death if they made it to winter. I feel that's just cruel and won't allow him to do that. I'm a firm believer that if you purchase an animal you are responsible for its well being until it passes on its own.

For this reason I am offering 3 lizards for free to a good home. I have 2 Green Anoles (like the ones in New Orleans) and one Gecko. You can have all three or just one. If you have only a small tank to keep the in, I would suggest only taking one. Lizards like to have their own space and females should be allowed to be able to hide from males. The Anoles are male and female. The Gecko is a male. I feed them a dozen crickets each week at the cost of $1.79 and keep crushed up dog food in a small bowl for them to eat as well. They are extremely low maintenance. I don't have a tank to give away with them, but a small fish tank with sand in the bottom and fake greenery for them to sleep in and climb on is all you need. A small water bowl and a small food bowl is needed for feeding. I would fill the water bowl up once a week. Through out the week take a spray bottle with clean, fresh water in it and mist the leaves and sides of the tank to water them. (They won't actually drink from the bowl, they drink it off the leaves. The bowl is to help with the humidity.) In the colder months you may need a small heating blanket set to low to place under the tank to keep the sand warm.

If you are interested in the lizards, or know someone who is, please let me know. I would love to see them go to a good home! (BTW: You can pick them up and hold them but they DO NOT like it. These would be lizards for looking at only, as they will shed their tales if they feel threatened!)

Today's a good day

Today was better. I think it started last night. I stopped being hard on myself and pulled myself off the couch. The evenings started and ended at Julie's boyfriends house. There was a poker run yesterday that ended at his house. They had a band and a blue million people were there. It was a good time. After a few hours of hanging out with good friends, I headed home. I had an important decision to make that night - Where to go to church in the morning. I kinda chuckled at this issue. 2 months ago I wouldn't have had this issue because I would have blown off both mom and dad for church and just slept in. (Since I've been back from N.O.L.A., I think I've only missed church once, not including the Sunday after we arrived back.) So mom has been asking me to go to church with her for a while. She has started going back to the church I grew up in. They have a new preacher and mom feels he's the cat's meow. She has been asking me for weeks to go with her and I decided I would go with her this morning. (We haven't hung out all that much lately. We've both been on each other's nerves and had to take a break from each other for a bit. That happens when you turn into your mother. Or better yet, that happens when I turn into MY mother. You just have to meet her.) So dad started calling me to make sure that I was up and going to make it for FFC. He really wants to make sure that we answer on the first ring, but I just can't do it. First of all - I'm a solid sleeper. That and I dream like crazy. So in the morning, if I'm not ready to wake up, I add the noises in my room to my dreams and just keep sleeping. Alarm clocks blaring, phones ringing, dogs begging for a potty break...they end up in my dreams as cars backing up, juke boxes playing, dogs begging for a potty break. You see where I'm going with this. So I think dad calls 3 times before I answer to let him know I'm going with mom. He's fine with it, no biggie as long as I'm going to church. I knew he'd be fine with it. Good news, going with mom gave me an extra hour of sleep. SWEET! Mom calls about 45 minutes later and I'm already awake. Not up, just awake. Shadow, my 40 pound Border Collie, was laying on my back trying to get me to scratch her belly. She's the best! Getting to the point...I went to church with mom. The message wasn't that bad but the music was really bad. Really bad. They were hiring a new music/youth pastor today. The members of the church gathered after church to make the final vote. I found out that I was still a member of the church. I didn't stick around to vote, but found it amusing that I was still a member, but that's another story. I don't think I'll be going back to this church for a bit. It was nice to see other styles, but I didn't feel ready to serve and uplifted when I left. I think that had to do A LOT with the music, because the message wasn't too bad.
All in all, it was a good day. I did hear from the offender. But, that too, is another story. Hope everyone is doing great!

Rescue Me

I'll go ahead and put a disclaimer on this blog. It may be long. It may not flow. It's my heart on my sleeve.

I think I have a problem. I think my heart is too big. I think I do too much to help others. I think I get taken advantage of by people. I think they do this on purpose. I know I am good person. I know I have a big heart. I KNOW I get taken advantage of by too many people. I know they do this on purpose. I don't want to be taken advantage of. However, I will not stop caring. I will not stop helping. I will not shrink the size of my heart.
I have taken stock of the people in my 'inner' circle who take me for granted. It saddens me that the number of people who I call 'friends' who take advantage of me is greater then the amount of people who take me for who I am and 'use' me for me.
The smaller group loves me. They will sit with me on my back pouch and hang out for hours. They laugh at my funny jokes. They laugh at my not so funny jokes. They call just to ask me how my day is going. If they ask favors, they are from the heart. "Can you watch my daughter while I run to the store?" "Can I stop by to hang out?" "Want to eat supper together tonight?" "Want to run to the creek with me?"
The larger group 'loves' my ability to enable then to do what they need. They will sit with me on my back pouch and hang out for hours. They laugh at my funny jokes. They laugh at my not so funny jokes. But this is where is changes. Instead of calling me to ask me how my day is going, they call because they ran out of gas and no one else will pick them up. They ask to store items at my house because they have no where else to put them. They borrow money and never give it back. They use my car and trash it. They borrow my car and don't fill the tank up. They use my house as a dumping ground for their unwanteds. They use the fact that I WILL help to their advantage. Yes, Audra will let me sleep on the couch. Yes, Audra will watch my kid. Yes, Audra will help me pay a bill so I don't get evicted. Yes, Audra will support me because I don't feel like doing it myself. Yes, Audra will put herself on the chopping block because she's a good girl. Yes, Audra will. Yes, Audra will. Yes, Audra will.
Last night Audra didn't. Last night I said no to someone I truly care for. I stood up for myself and started the ball in motion to put a stop to a major drain in my life. Of course that person turned it around to blame everything wrong in their life on me. "Why did you choose right now? If I had known this 30 minutes ago I wouldn't have done the right thing and paid all my bills on time. If I had known this, I wouldn't have done the right thing and taken care of all my personal responsibilities. If I had known you were going to grow a back bone and stand up to me I wouldn't have done what needed to be done in my life to get things on track." So that's not exactly how it went, but that's what was being said with out that person realizing that's what they were saying. They stated that I didn't know how wrong I was in making the decision I was making and that they were happy to get out of my way as quickly as possible.
I should feel great today. I should feel like I am doing what I need to do for me. That should feel awesome. So why in the world do I feel like I am the one doing something wrong? Why do I feel so horrible? So overwhelmed? Why do I feel like I should call this person up and go back to not having a back bone? Why are my eyes so swollen and red today from feeling so bad about myself? I am not going to go back on my word. I grew a back bone last night. I started to rescue myself instead of rescuing everyone else. I know where my strength is coming from. It's an answered pray. I will not go back on this answered pray and throw it away, but why does this one hurt so bad?
So I guess my question in all of this is - how do you determine when being a good Samaritan is pushed to the point of being taken advantage of? Obviously, I don't know where that line is. How do you know when to help and when to say no?
I already know that I'm going to have to cut people out of my life. If you don't want to be around me for me, then I don't need you. If you think of me as the girl to help rescue you, but you don't think of me when you have something fun to share, don't call me. If you aren't willing to give as much as I give in a friendship, don't count me in. I feel like I shouldn't be this way, but I am really trying to lead a better life. I will no longer let bad in.
I will gladly take any advice. I still feel like I should help no matter what. I feel like I'm turning my back on what I need to do as a good person. I am just so confused.

Still Climbing!

I told you Jeremy!!! This is something that I have been prayed myself to tears over many times. Today I received a phone call that took all the pressure off me! When I got the news I almost pulled my car off to the side of the road and did a happy dance/drop to my knees/bawl my eyes out prayer. However, I was on a time deadline, so instead I yipped with joy like a little girl, yelled praise to the Lord at the top of my lungs with glee and called Sue to share my good news. Something I am learning very quickly....prayer works!! Thank you Lord!!!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://audra219.blogspot.com/2008/07/praise-praise-praise.html' title='Praise! This time I had a partner in crime - Lil' a.k.a Emily. This time we decided to try the ear candles. I was able to get 2 wicks at GNC for just under $10. When looking over the instructions and ingredients I did NOT see any type of flavor, so there was no tasting tonight. Besides, I think Emily's other job, besides Fire Starter, was to keep the candles out of my mouth! ha I'll wait for Emily to post pictures, because it was a little to silly to explain, but trust me, you'll get a kick out of them!

Update on ears: Still sucky. I have swimmers ear. I had a pool in my back yard for years and never had swimmers ear. One day in the pool - can't get rid of it! =) I've been told that it's from wax build up in my ear and that I need to get an ear wax removal kit to take care of it. A trip to WalMart and $6 later, I have Debrox. I wanted to wait until our ear wax/birthday/wear your dress again party, but I just couldn't wait until August to get rid of this junk in my ear.
I read the instructions and take a page from my Grandma's book - If a little will do you good, A LOT will do you better. Next thing I know I have gunk streaming down my earlobe and rolling onto my jaw bone. Trying to keep my head tilted over, I grab for a towel. The drip is now taken care of. Now I remember that I forgot to get the cotton balls out before I started. I bend down to get the cotton balls from under the sink.....here comes the rolling gunk again! Cottons balls in one hand, towel in the other...gunk gone again! I finally get the cotton ball in my ear. With my experience in the rolling gunk I'm afraid to venture out into the living room. The last thing I want is gunk on my furniture. So I'm stuck in my bathroom for the "several" minutes, as the box stated. What in the world can I do for "several" minutes? I can clean the bathtub. No, not in the mood for that. I can pluck my eyebrows. Not tonight. I can clean the mirror. Well, I can still see into it. There's no need to clean it yet. I can read the ingredients on the back of the Debrox box. I vote YES! So sitting on the toilet seat, seat down, head resting on the sink, gunk free at the time, I start into the ingredients. I'm fine with everything until I see the list of inactive ingredients. One thing catches my eye - FLAVOR. Why in the world do they put flavor in ear wax removal? I stop for a second. Did I read that right? Flavor? So I double check. Yep! Flavor. Now, most reasonable people would reason that they may have added flavor to it due to the fact that it can be connected to the sinuses and that could cause you to taste the Debrox. NOT ME! Yep, you guessed it....I tasted it! ha I wouldn't suggest tasting Debrox. It was a 'flavor' that I soon won't forget. Just take my word on it! But still my question has yet to be answered - WHY DO THEY FLAVOR DEBROX!???!!

HELP!!!

Yes, I'm a newb to this. Hopefully no fingers were shot off by bottle rockets, no toes were lost by roman candles and no eye poked out from grilling kabobs! I know I have all my fingers, toes and eyes. I counted them, I'm good! ha I have to admit, this is by far the best 4th of July of my 30's. (Don't point out that it's the first, I'm trying to sneak that by everyone!) It started out Thursday evening with a heated game of Phase 10. If anyone is ever bored on the weekends, just head to my house. My back porch is usually the place of a heated game of Phase 10 or FOUR person eukure (spell check, please). I won! I usually win. It's my house. I make the rules, hence the reason why it's usually a HEATED game! We even decided to make a poster board with all the rules written on them so that rules can't be made up or changed mid-game. Friday night was must of the same, except we added the fireworks. Tracey and Madison joined us at the park. Madison is 3 and this was her first fireworks. She loved the colors but hated the sounds! She spent most the night with her hands over her ears! ha We again ended up on the back porch playing Phase 10 and spoons. Spoons didn't go over as well as Emily and I would have liked. I guess that we'll have never a game as fun as the one we played in N.O.L.A. booo! Next came Saturday - CORFEST! I best local concert ever! 7 bands, $10 and killer sloppy joes! What more could a girl ask for! I did spent the first two hours sitting in a lawn chair, melting from the heat. My mascara was coming off in clumps, it was literally melting! And you should know that if I'm complaining about mascara - it's bad! =) After my two Tylenol, a gallon of water and some good 'ol complaining, I was ready to rock! The day ended late, well early with my taking Mary home around 2AM. I didn't make it up for church. I didn't make it up for breakfast. I didn't even make it up when Tracey was banging on the door looking for her keys! I slept through alarm clocks, dogs, Tracey, and a blaring TV. I was zonked! When I finally woke up, we headed out to the farm for some R&R by the pool! Pool, friends, grilling and no cornhole. This girls life is just about as good as it gets! Hope everyone had as great of a time this weekend as I did!

Sew says the Sebree

Hey guys!!
